Weird but still very lovely June 9, 2011

This is just my type of jewelry because this is how I hope people perceive me: weird but still very lovely.

The duo of creators describe their work:

WEIRD but still very LOVELY

COMPLEX but still very SMPLE

RAW but still very SOFT

FUNNY but still very SERIOUS

SAME but still very DIFFERENT

ABSTRACT but still very CONCRETE

CHEAP but still very EXCLUSIVE

NICE but still very DANGEROUS

BOYISH but still very FEMININE

I’m adding the cloud necklace to my wish list right now. You can buy Okiiko accessories here.

Today, I came across this beautiful work by Dutch stylist & jewelry designer Miranda van Dijk and I love it. If I got that correctly: the brooches are all made of old pictures that the artist has found in grandparents attic printed on cotton fabrics. Looking at her work, I felt nostalgic (but a nice kind of nostalgia, not the gloomy kind) and it reminded me of some old unfinished project from art school (if one day I can turn all those unfinished projects into something, I promise I’ll share). You can see more of her work here and it’s available to buy here.

I’ve been struggling a bit with this blog lately, mainly because I’m busy getting back into doing things myself and also because I’m never too sure how I want this blog to be. Sometime I’d like to get more personal and tell you all about things that actually matters (as much as I love shoes and jewelery, I have a little more depth you know). But today I’ve decided that this is my blog and I can do what I want with it. So hopefully you’ll stick around for a while. So this was it, my first attempt to be more “me” here.

It’s been a long (shameful) time since my last post. But tonight I was going through some archive and had to share this.

(Plus Xmas is coming… you never know who might read this). The pieces are from Barbara Prouvost and you can find them at Arik Levy.

I’m not posting much but I’m busy with a project that I will hoprfully share soon (well it has to get a little prettier… we’re just not there yet).

Few days ago, one of my friend has pointed my growing obsession for jewelries. I didn’t actually realise until she said it… now I’m looking at my post for the last months and… duuuuh! The funny thing is that I don’t even wear that much jewelries, but I have to say if I was to start my life all over (not the early teens stage please) I’d probably try to give it a go as a jewelery designer. For now I’m just enjoying admiring other peoples work. More about Kyoko Hashimoto here.

Those quilts/blankets look so comfy… and I love the graphics as well. (Not that long ago, I’ve been asked what my favorite place was. My answer to that (sadly) was: my bed. Yes, I love my bed that much… and I love sleeping even more).

Check out their website (to know more about the quilts… not about my love for sleeping)

I love those pieces designed by Keyman. I’ve found them on Erayo, a  B2B online trade show dedicated to designed products. The idea behind Erayo is the believe that exclusive products should ‘cross the ocean’ online. It works! I can already see that beautiful brooch crossing the ocean just for me.

You can never have too many t-shirts. I wish I would wear pretty dresses every single days… but this is real life (at least mine) and this is something I really can’t do. Especially now that it’s getting cold… my need for warmth and comfort is trying to take over my sense of style. But some nice tees from Crywolf (wink, wink hubby) would solve all my very very important problem.

I’m as excited as if I had found gold! I’m in love, I want them all. Lilian Asterfield is the label created by genius goddess (yep… just that) Nicole Deponte. Her label is providing a whole line of one of a kind accessories all made out of ties. My favourite top (for now 10 years nearly) is a very shy version of what Nicole Deponte does. I’m ready to have a new favourite top! I just have to make a decision now… this is going to be a tough one.

Will the mustache madness ends one day? Hopefully not. The mustache is cool, that’s it. You have to accept it and even be happy about it. I’ve decided that I’ll put  an end to the craziness when I’ll find enough pirate’s paraphernalia to feed my daily post (yes I know who am I kidding? I should say: my weekly post).

I’ve been obssessed with Abigail’s jewelries for a while now. I keep visiting her online shop and feeling like buying but everytime something’s stopping me. You might think I’m silly but I don’t buy anything because I feel like it’s too pretty for me… nearly like I’d be ruining her creation by wearing them! They’re just so beautiful and I feel I need to do something really special to deserve it. Obviously I can’t use being a new mum twice… maybe I can treat myself because I’m back at work… hehehe… I’m pure evil …
