Today, I came across this beautiful work by Dutch stylist & jewelry designer Miranda van Dijk and I love it. If I got that correctly: the brooches are all made of old pictures that the artist has found in grandparents attic printed on cotton fabrics. Looking at her work, I felt nostalgic (but a nice kind of nostalgia, not the gloomy kind) and it reminded me of some old unfinished project from art school (if one day I can turn all those unfinished projects into something, I promise I’ll share). You can see more of her work here and it’s available to buy here.

I’ve been struggling a bit with this blog lately, mainly because I’m busy getting back into doing things myself and also because I’m never too sure how I want this blog to be. Sometime I’d like to get more personal and tell you all about things that actually matters (as much as I love shoes and jewelery, I have a little more depth you know). But today I’ve decided that this is my blog and I can do what I want with it. So hopefully you’ll stick around for a while. So this was it, my first attempt to be more “me” here.

Buying one of these prints = donating money to a good cause

Top left poster designed by Max Erdenberger can be purchased here.

Bottom left photography can be purchased here.

And the last poster by Rob Dobi can be found here.

You can also donate here.

This is all for today because everything else seems pointless.

Dear Husband, look at those pretty rings and bracelets (see how I’m also subtly trying to assess if husband is reading blog)… and it’s really good we don’t do Valentine’s day in our house because you can find tones of other reasons to surprise me (I’ll totally fake the surprise I promise).

Sorry for that little digression now, but it’s important to get your point across sometimes.

I don’t wear bracelets very often (something about the fact that they just keep getting in the way when I’m working on my computer), but I absolutely adore those blue ones. Katherine Wheeler and  Abby Seymour are two artists and together they create pieces that are hand crafted, painted and fired in their own kiln. They don’t do mass production and this I really like. (found via bloesem)

Oh Lauren where have you been? February 7, 2011

Probably not new to you, but I have just discovered Lauren Moffat and I absolutely adore her.  I mean not her (I’m sure she’s lovely and all) but the clothes. They are vintage-inspired, colorful, stylish and just really pretty. I’ve been struggling a lot those days to find clothes that I like and that I could wear without looking like I wanted to be someone else. And this is what I’ve been looking for… if I could I would buy all those pieces… well if I could I would actually buy just one, that would be already brilliant. Those pictures are from last season (and currently on sales, yeepeeeee), I will post again about the new collection. More about Lauren Moffat here.

Patrick Casey January 31, 2011

For all of you getting married in 2012 (yes, if you’re getting married this summer, it would be a tad late to start looking for a dress wouldn’t it?) and who want find the perfect dress, I would recommend having a peek at this website:  patrickcasey.ie. My friend Anita wore a dress Patrick had designed for her wedding and she looked absolutely stunning. Those two dresses above are my favourites from his current collection and… now I really feel silly telling you about how much I love those dresses… and not planning a wedding… because I’m married… it feels like I was cheating on my wedding dress. More about Patrick’s work here.

I need to plan a beach holiday so I have a good excuse to buy this one piece swimsuit by Tony Burch. I think it’s so colourful and pretty  that it could keep my mind distracted from the fact that I hate wearing swimsuit.

New tights from les Queues de Sardines! As usual, an unconventional and funny range of really beautiful tights. I want my legs to be elegant and funny at the same time!

Joel is a brilliant artist and a great dad. On his blog?, he posts about toys or craft projects he’s making for his kid. The projects are always fun and clever and I can’t wait to be able to do the same with the small one. I love the Paper city vehicles and the Halloween box scene. Because I felt so inspired this week… I had great plans for this week-end: I had planned to create nice dolls like those ones for my little girl. I had planned to go out it the snow and have fun. I had planned to paint and drink a nice cup of hot chocolate. And I had planned to work hard in the evening once she was asleep so I could finally share my new project here. But instead I started to get a cold, went marching in Dublin’s street to protest against the government, got frozen feet and ended up with a bad cold and temperature. So I didn’t do any of the things I had planned, I’ve spent most of the last days in bed. We should have a law against being sick during the week-end.

So I absolutely adore Stella McCartney for kids. It’s brilliant and girls can wear pretty clothes that don’t make them look like big tarty meringue. There are actually a lot of items I’d love for myself and I really wish I could wear those yellow boots!
