Last week in France, a decree has been voted to prohibit people to voluntary hide their faces while participating to a demonstration. Wearing a mask, a hood during a demonstration could theoretically get you into trouble and you could have to pay up to 1500 euros fee. But could you get away with wearing on of those hoodies? Made by Brooklyn artist Clinton van Gemert (HeadHoods), those hooded sweatshirts are somehow creepy…and yet so brilliant!
Cabinet of curiosities June 30, 2009
I love vintage illustrations and I love jewerlies. Ms Vanda from Paraphernalia had the brilliant idea to combine both. The pieces she creates are very graphic, unuasual (not to say strange) and poetic. They’re also surprisingly affordable, and I’m going to buy the heart necklace right now… or maybe the ribcage one.
Plush June 30, 2009
It looks like that child of mine has to learn to love plush toys so I can finally buy some! I’ve found new ones that are just adorable from Belgium based studio Plush. They say: “Plush is a sparkling new children’s clothing + accessories brand. It’s huggable. It’s cute. It’s raw and somewhat rock’n’roll!” They’re also designing great clothes, if she doesn’t want plush toys I can always buy her one of those nice tee.
For my friend purse’s addiction June 29, 2009
My friend O. is addicted to bags… no seriously she must have at least one for every single week of the year. But the funny thing is that I only can think of three of her bags… so maybe she only uses the other ones when she doesn’t hang around me. Even though I don’t get it, I’d like to make her happy and get her one of those. Or maybe is it wrong to indulge her addiction? I’ve found those on Hanna Zakari, a nice shop for independent designer.
Geeky necklace June 29, 2009
I’m a graphic designer and I would love one of those necklace. You have to be sort of a geek to wear them but I don’t care I’d love to. I’d be a proud geek with my Helvetica necklace.
Lego silver ring June 29, 2009
Not that long ago I received one of those for my birthday. It’s the perfect gift for a geeky girl like me, it’s fun and playful and you can customize it. I think it would make an adorable engagement ring as well, especially if you don’t plan to spend a big amount of money (that you can save for your honeymoon for example, or nice gift for you grandma) on it. Rings are made by: Edition Mathea.
Playing around… June 29, 2009
Last week, I’ve been playing around with lenses. It was difficult to take pictures of the little one, as the only thing she wanted was to put the lens in her mouth.
I’ve found this interesting set on Flickr of an handmade sterling silver ring with two optical lenses. t’s a nice project, lovely idea!
Shoe fetish? June 28, 2009
I’m usually not big on shoes, I always buy nice sneakers but I’m not a girl obsessed with shoes. Even at the time I was watching Sex and the City, I just couldn’t get into the whole shoe thing. I like easy, comfortable shoes. I can’t wear high heels… well I can but I won’t, because I just don’t like the pain at the end of the day (or in some case within the next hour). But a while ago I’ve discovered those shoes: they’re expensive, I have no idea if they’re comfortable, but I feel like I could just by them. So I don’t know, if this is just me being brainwashed thinking I just need a pair of pretty shoes or if I’m just changing. Christian Louboutin’s shoes are worn on some of the world’s most glamorous feet, I’m not sure my feet could bare the comparison.
Sanna Annukka June 28, 2009
I finally remember the name of the artist I was looking for this morning: Sanna Annukka. Now, looking at her work it’s quite different from Naomi Murrell’s work, but it did trigger that little connection in my tiny brain. You can find out more about Sanna Annukka on her website.
