Today was a perfect day. Hubby and I went swimming with the little one, had lunch together. Then I went shopping a little, and even managed to get my hands on a pretty pair of Maison Martin Margiela’s pump in H&M. On my way back home (as I was all excited thinking about when I’ll get to wear those pretty shoes), I looked at my reflection in a window… and was pretty disgusted with the state of me. After few months home, it’s becoming clear that I need to stop wearing clothes that could be confused with pajamas (and not the stylish trendy type). But while you’re out of touch with the real world, sometimes it’s hard to guet dressed. However, when I’m looking at Juliette Hogan’s collection, I know what I want to wear. I want to wear pretty and simple dresses, outfits that would be perfect for nice lunch with husband, reading books by the canal, mummy’s dates. Don’t get me wrong, I love spending time with my little girl, but today I’ve decided that she’s entitled to spend time with someone who puts a little more efforts into dressing in the morning.

Almost every day of the year, I wear a scarf and the days I don’t, I regret it. It is an essential part of a layered outfit, it keeps you warm, it keeps your perfume… it is the growing up version of a cuddly. In the last weeks I’ve discovered that my daughter loves wearing my scarves, sometime she’ll pretend she’s cold so I let her wear it. It’s adorable and even though I really don’t like walking around in the Irish breeze without protecting my neck, she can have the scarf… watching her wearing it makes me happy.

I’ve just discovered those beautiful scarves from A Peace Treay. I like the story behind it as well, the aim of keeping ancient handcraft techniques, the unicity of each pieces.

Mamaland October 9, 2012

It’s been more than a year since my last post… and a lot happened during that year. Yes, you’ve guessed it… I’m back in mamaland. After my last post, I got myself pregnant again, went through a pretty awful pregnancy, gave birth a month early to a gorgeous little girl. And it took me another 6 months to completely “recover” and get my act together… So here I am.. I am back!

I thought it would be appropriate to post about the maternity collection Koka Mama. I like that it’s chic and that it doesn’t look like maternity clothing. Well, there’s a point when there’s no denying “the bun in the oven”… and yet those ladies look stylish and lovely. (Anyone who had seen me at any stage of my last pregnancy would certainly not use those terms to refer to me, I was no stylish, nor lovely.)

A lot of my friends have had their first babies in the lasts days, weeks, months or are just about to pop… apologies for only posting this now my dears. But for your next pregnancy you now know where to shop!

You can’t buy those beautiful handmade pieces right now… because the Founder of NoMilk Today, Eva, has closed down her Etsy shop so she can make more of those (or maybe she’s getting a nice tan… or travelling the world).

I don’t mind wearing a bow tie if it is one of those. I love charming and delightfully fun objects. (you would have had a good laugh now watching me write the word “delightfully”… ). More delightful objects (well… now that I can write it, I’m using it) at the.

This is just my type of jewelry because this is how I hope people perceive me: weird but still very lovely.

The duo of creators describe their work:

WEIRD but still very LOVELY

COMPLEX but still very SMPLE

RAW but still very SOFT

FUNNY but still very SERIOUS

SAME but still very DIFFERENT

ABSTRACT but still very CONCRETE

CHEAP but still very EXCLUSIVE

NICE but still very DANGEROUS

BOYISH but still very FEMININE

I’m adding the cloud necklace to my wish list right now. You can buy Okiiko accessories here.

Atelier Assemblé April 18, 2011

My baby is no longer a baby, but a little girl who’s very much interested in defining the world between boys and girls. Mummy is a girl, I am a girl, daddy is boy… that’s what we hear all day long. We’ve been very cautious around that issue and made sure not to dress her like a princess, buy her toys that were not always gender specific. Some people think that by doing so we’re denying her the right to be a little girl, but that’s not how we see it. We’d like for her to grow and be whatever she wants to be… not what society tells her she should be as girl… eg. wearing pink and glitters, only playing in the house with dolls and pretending to vacuum and clean (have you seen what sort of toys they do those days?) I want her to know that she has the choice, that being a girl doesn’t mean she has to wear pink all the time, that she can build things, be adventurous, be brave… and that boys can wear pink if they want to or play with dolls. But she’s growing… and is starting to want to define herself what it means to be a girl… for now it means pink and dresses. Whenever she sees something pink, she gets super excited and tells us it is for girl and she’s never so happy than when she gets to wear a dress.
So we’ve decided to make her wardrobe a little more girly… but we still don’t want to dress her all in pink, because it’s tarty (I know, I know… this is a little exaggerated now). Today I was browsing around for kids clothing when I came across Atelier Assemblé. And this is exactly the type of clothes I want to buy for her: cute and colourful. The two creators of Atelier Assemblé collect vintage fabrics from the 50s, 60s and 70s to create beautiful piece of clothing for boys and girls from 2 to 10 years old. Those actually reminds me of clothes that my mum made for me when I was a little girl, I wish I could actually use a sewing machine properly, because there’s nothing more special than to wear a dress made by your mum.

I love the shoe clippers from Ban.do, they make me want to partaaaay. Yes I realise how extremely ironic it is to write about partying on a Friday night… already in my pajamas… sitting on the sofa… very close to get the last ice cream from the freezer. But I’m taking a little rest from having too much fun before heading on holidays (where I hope I’ll have way too much fun). I’ve meant to blog about those shoe clippers since last December… what  can I say? Life’s just too busy sometimes.

OH I LOVE THAT GOLD NECKLACE: This limited edition Dani M for Michi necklace is adorable, isn’t it? I feel like a dork whenever I say or write “isn’t it” because it reminds me of English class when I was 13.

My birthday is coming up soon, so dear husband if you’re reading this: wink, wink.  I know it’s ridiculous that I’m thinking about my birthday already, because it’s in two months and I don’t even really like to celebrate my birthday (I’ve had my 25th a looooooong time ago). But I need something to keep my mind up in the cloud, I’ve been feeling gloomy and sad lately. Today, I am an empty vessel.
